About
An exteriors company,
named after the smallest piece.
Tessera works on the parts of your house that face the weather — the roof, the siding, the windows — and puts every proposed scope in writing before work begins.
The name
Why “Tessera.”
A tessera is the Latin word for one small tile of a mosaic — the individual piece that, alongside hundreds of others, becomes the picture.
Look at your house from the street and you are looking at mosaics. A roof is thousands of shingles, each one nailed, sealed, and lapped over the course below it. Siding is courses of individual boards, staggered so no joint lines up with another. A window is panes set in a frame, flashed into the wall around it. None of these is one thing — each is many small pieces doing one job: moving water off the house.
An exterior fails at its worst-placed piece. That is the whole premise of the company: place every piece correctly, and write down how it was done.
Capabilities
What we handle.
Exterior work across the Kansas City metro — roofing first, and the wall and openings that share its flashing. Same intake, same project standards.
Roofing & storm damage
Roof replacement, leak repair, and documented insurance-claim restoration — § 407.725 compliant, no deductible absorption.
Siding
Fiber cement, LP SmartSide, vinyl, and cedar — hung over a proper weather barrier with every opening flashed.
Windows
Insert and full-frame replacements sealed into the wall system — flashing, air seal, and code-spec glass.
Gutters & permitting
Drainage that finishes the roof’s job, and the permits your municipality requires — pulled, tracked, and inspected. We do not skip them or work around them.

Who runs the work
A small team, on every job.
Tessera is deliberately small. Every project is run by our founder, who walks the site and coordinates the crews directly. Roofing and storm-damage work runs under a dedicated roofing operations lead who handles insurance-claim coordination, crew scheduling, and field quality checks.
That structure is the point: the person who quotes your project is the person responsible for delivering it.
What makes us different
Four practices we don't compromise on.
Clear scope before work starts.
We review the site conditions before presenting an estimate. The written scope records what is included, what remains unknown, and what happens next.
Quotes that hold up.
A quote is a forecast, and forecasts are only as good as the data behind them. We price using current Kansas City material costs and trade rates — not national averages. If the scope changes mid-project, you see the change-order math before any work happens.
Honest schedules. Honest updates.
You get a written timeline, scheduled check-ins, and progress photos. If a crew falls through or the weather pushes a tear-off, you hear about it the same day — not when you call to ask.
Modern tools, quietly.
We use modern measurement and pricing tools to deliver accurate quotes faster than traditional contractors. The tools serve you. They are not the story. The story is the work.
